WHAT IS FUTSAL?

  • Futsal (Portuguese pronunciation: [futˈsal]) is a variant of association football that is played on a smaller field and mainly played indoors. It can be considered a version of five-a-side football. Its name comes from the Portuguese futebol de salão, which can be translated as “hall football”. It was developed in Brazil and Uruguay in the 1930s and 1940s.
  • In Brazil futsal is played by more people than football but does not attract as many spectators as the outdoor sport. Several futsal players have moved on to careers as successful professional football players.
  • Futsal is a game played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, the game is played on a hard court surface delimited by lines; walls or boards are not used. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football due to the surface of the pitch. The surface, ball and rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.

  • As the balls have less bounce they tend to stay in play longer and promote close ball control.

  • Futsal quickly develop skills required for soccer: – balance, motor ability, agility and co-ordination, ball mastery, accurate and quick passing and receiving, perception insight and awareness.


FUTSAL Skills:

Description

For boys and girls born in 2013-2005.

  • General aim of developing soccer skills, knowledge and appreciation of futsal, team play and good sportsmanship.
  • Our goal is to have players (and parents) learning about futsal.
  • Winter Futsal emphasizes learning soccer skills and the rules of the game, working with a team, and building social, physical, and emotional readiness for the game.
  • Final objective: develop a core set of values including teamwork, challenging one’s abilities and knowledge, and the enjoyment of participating in an active and demanding sport.

Organization

  • The idea is to have an in-house skills clinic with invited guest programs if interested.
  • Keep it affordable with a reasonable cost-benefit program.
  • Players are grouped by age, gender and skill level. 
  • Coaching is geared towards improving individual technique/skills as well as a sense of a team within a group.
  • Focus on fundamentals of the game in addition to physical fitness components such as: agility, coordination, speed, power, balance, cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance.

REQUIREMENTS  Each player should bring these items TO EVERY SESSION!

  • Shin guards
  • Water and/or sports drinks
  • Wear Futsal or non-marking tennis shoes (futsal shoes)
  • Indoor shoes and regular soccer cleats are not allowed on gym floors. (Indoor)
  •  Wear gold dri fit shirt, navy blue shorts and gold socks.

Schedule & Cost

Location:  Lausanne Main Gym and Norfleet Gym

  • Sundays (12/9, 12/16, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27)
  • Time: 4:30-5:30 pm  for all age groups (2013-2005)

  • Cost: $50 per player

Players from other organizations may ask for an authorization to participate. Please contact info@soccerole.org

If approved,  new players must purchase uniforms set ($60).
